Anatomical Pathologist
Southern Community Laboratories is a division of Healthscope that has provided doctors and patients in New Zealand with pathology services since 1960. We are the largest provider of Pathology services and have laboratories throughout New Zealand.
Wellington SCL is a newer branch that opened at the end of 2015 and includes a brand new laboratory based at Wellington Hospital. This is a purpose built laboratory servicing the greater Wellington region (hospital and community referrals). The Anatomical Pathology department processes over 42,000 surgical specimens each year, this includes over $6,000 Cytology cases, and has an active Registrar Teaching Programme.
As an Anatomical Pathologist you will be part of a larger team of fifteen Pathologists (including our branch at Lower Hutt) providing clinical delivery and service excellence through high quality diagnostic services to our clients and patients across all sites.
The preferred candidate will have a special interest in Gastrointestinal pathology. Other areas of interest are a plus. This position is for an experienced Pathologist.
There will be a requirement to travel within the greater Wellington region as well as other SCL facilities around the country from time to time. You may be required to provide cover and support to our other laboratories in the SCL group.
To be successful, you will be required to hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or a similar recognised postgraduate qualification; and be eligible for registration as a Specialist Pathologist by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
